Assai raro erbario, il primo stampato in Italia dal primo tipografo attivo a Vicenza

Tractatus de virtutibus herbarum. Vicenza, Leonardo da Basilea e Guglielmo di Papia, 1491.

In quarto (200 x 142 mm); [4], CL, [18] carte. Incipit con vignetta xilografica raffigurante Arnaldo da Villanova e Avicenna, 150 illustrazioni di piante incise in legno nel testo (esemplare lavato e con alcuni piccoli restauri marginali.) Legatura del XX secolo in piena pergamena. 

Klebs, Early Herbals, 10: “Text and arrangement identical with Schoeffer’s edition (Mainz 1484), but of course without German names.  The woodcuts are partly influenced by the German cuts, but are newly designed, being finer in execution and the lines more delicate, and for the greater part quite different.”

Very rare herbarium, the first printed in Italy by the first printer active in Vicenza
