A SMALL LUXURY FUORISERIE
The Appia was the last small Lancia available in chassis form, and a number of special versions were created by the indipendent coachbuilders.
The small bespoke handbuilt motor car is something completely unknown today, but up to the 1960s there was a small market for those who did not want a big displacement car, but still were not willing to drive a series production industrial product.
Carrozzeria Vignale was building a successful two seater Appia Cabriolet, and proposed Lancia a closed version with four seats: this was approved and 478 units got built between 1959 and 1961.
The car had a very luxurious finish and the price of 1,980,000 Lire, just 100,000 less than the exotic Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint.
The car offered today was built a few years ago from the first original owner: it still was in good condition but has been improved by the owner, to a level of perfect unrestored originality. It has been published on the September 2018 issue of EpocAuto and it represents a unique motor car, being a very rare model in irrepeatable condition.
The vehicle is in excellent mechanical condition but for safety reasons, we advise the purchaser to have it checked over and to replace the fluids, filters and perishable elements.
