A VERY RARE MILLE MIGLIA ELIGIBLE 190 SL
The 190 SL was suggested to Mercedes-Benz by Max Hoffmann, the New York importer, who wanted a smaller and more affordable model with the 300 SL look.
It was developed using a 180 saloon floorpan and a four cylinder SOHC engine, clothed with a body which was heavily inspired by the 300’s.
In March 1955 the new roadster was launched at the Geneva Motor Show and the production in the first couple of years was pretty low. The 190 was also used -in stripped down form- in competition, and most importantly in the Mille Miglia. For this reason any pre-1958 190 SL is eligible in the classic event taking place in Brescia every month of May.
This particular motor car was imported in Italy in 1991, restored and registered in Florence. The vendor has kept it immaculately and she is still as new. She comes with paperwork confirming the 1957 build date, which makes it one of the very few 190 SLs which can be registered in the Mille Miglia.
This vehicle is in excellent mechanical condition but for safety reasons, we advise the purchaser to have it checked over and to replace the fluids, filters and perishable elements.
