The
Old Master Painting sale will show a
significant group of Tuscan tempera panels, always a strong point with Pandolfini. Among them, an image of St. Bernardino from
Sano di Pietro's workshop and an imposing Madonna dell'Umiltà by
Cennino Cennini. Some fascinating Seicento portraits will also be offered, among them two musicians by
Daniele Crespi. Genoese Baroque painting, starring in various spring exhibitions scheduled in Genoa and in Rome, will be represented bt a male portrait by
Bernardo Carbone. A group of fruit and flower pieces, both Italian and Flemish, has three major works by
Abraham Brueghel as its strong point. Few landscape paintings will also be on sale, among them a work by
Philip Roos, Rosa da Tivoli.
The spring session dedicated to the paintings and sculptures of the nineteenth century will present a large selection that represents the production of the most important Italian schools of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries.
The Venetian school is present with works by Ettore Tito, Beppe Ciardi, Angelo Dall'Oca Bianca, Mosè Bianchi. For the early twentieth century we point out in the catalog a group of works by Mario Cavaglieri and one by Plinio Nomellini. Particular attention is given to female portraiture interpreted by artists such as Giuseppe Bezzuoli, Silvestro Lega, Pietro Scoppetta, Felice Carena, Luigi Serena and Lino Selvatico.
