One of the recurring motifs in Giovanni Ozzola's artistic language is the image of the horizon, photographed by the artist in different and distant times and places, seen from the front or through the windows of rooms overlooking the sea, or openings onto the landscape, as in the works of the series “Thorugh a day” (2016).

As Davide Ferri tells us, "Ozzola's horizon is a kind of continuous line, a thread that unites the movements and the seasons, the different landscapes of Giovanni. Ozzola's photos tell the story of light, the epiphanies that occur in the light, a light of sunrises and sunsets, sloping or ascending, or dazzling, diurnal, sundial, a light capable of licking, if not even overwhelming, things, blurring them, dissolving them, fraying their contours, then returning them to the world as apparitions and intangible presences. (...) Light can dazzle, invest the beholder; in all cases it produces (in the viewer) a loss of consciousness, decreasing the presence of the ego, a dilution (and an extension) of the boundaries of the ego in the horizon and in the light ".

The images that Giovanni Ozzola places before us are, for Elisa del Prete, “places to cross by looking at a horizon. The close-up plan that is on the viewer, the room or the landscape in which one is, the preciousness of the details, invite the gaze not to stop, to stretch further, to a further floor, up to its maximum degree, transforming the experience of vision in that of crossing and contemplation in passing. The image becomes a place of distance, a gaze towards a horizon, an image to be read from here, in front of it, over there, beyond what one looks at. A tension is alive in it that leads us to a destination that is not on the surface but must be projected beyond the image itself. The subject becomes a place of transit, a pretext to generate a journey. "
