Bio
Nari Ward was born in 1963 in Saint Andrews in Jamaica. Already at the age of twelve he is in the United States first in Brooklyn, then in New Jersey and currently in Harlem.
His work develops from the early nineties and mostly consists of large installations and sculptures in which he uses everyday materials and scraps and residues of consumer objects. His work, which constantly oscillates between funerary iconography and bricolage, is inscribed in the great tradition of African American culture, of which at the present time he is one of the most eloquent voices, his best-known predecessor remaining David Hammons.
