The Caravel program was born in Visconti in October 1990 for the celebration of the 500th anniversary of Columbus' journey and the discovery of the Americas.
As always, Visconti designed an innovative set dedicated entirely to the theme of travel and to those who were most faithful to Columbus: the Three Caravels. The Caravel set includes a fountain pen, an inkwell, a leather bag and a painting by Mario Fantini depicting a Caravella.
The fountain pen is in celluloid of three colors, light blue, brown and purple with white streaks to evoke the foam of the waves of the sea. In a limited edition of 500 specimens in the name of 500 years of celebration, each of the pens bears on the hood a serial number and a badge depicting a Caravella. To complete the realization, a 14kt gold nib with rhodium inserts and gold-plated 24kt gold finishes.
The travel inkpot, Visconti patent and designed for the Caravel program contains an important novelty: the tablet ink.
The soft calfskin bag, in the same color as the fountain pen, allows you to stow and protect the pen, the inkwell, five papers and other objects.
