With Christmas coming up Pandolfini is delighted to present an online auction dedicated to Neapolitan nativity shepherds, a nucleus of figures from a single important collection brought together over the years thanks to the knowledge and research work of a passionate Tuscan collector.

Testifying to the highest Neapolitan nativity tradition, the sale of this collection will give collectors and neophytes alike the opportunity to come into possession of figures made in Naples especially in the 18th century by great sculptors and carvers, artists often commissioned by the most important families of the Neapolitan city to create nativity scenes to display in the halls of their palaces.

In addition to the classic Nativity group, the Magi and the angels in flight announcing the birth of the Savior, some 50 individual figures and a few composite scenes will be offered for auction, along with beautiful depictions of animals.

Peasants, commoners, bagpipers, maidens, Moors, washerwomen, roast-chestnut sellers, women of the nobility and so on, together with their precious accessories, will be ready to take their place in new nativity scenes.
