The auction includes the sale of 30 paintings donated by the artist Silvio Natali, with the collaboration of La Nazione di Firenze, in favour of the Tuscan population affected by the recent flooding. With this nucleus of acrylic paintings, created over the last twenty years, Silvio Natali is making an important contribution to the fund-raising campaign launched by the Monrif group through its print and online publications - Qn-Quotidiano Nazionale, La Nazione, il Resto del Carlino il Giorno and Luce! - to provide concrete help to the populations affected by the floods that caused casualties and serious damage in Tuscany at the beginning of November 2023. A doctor and artist from Corridonia, in the province of Macerata, with personal exhibitions in major European capitals behind him, Natali devoted himself to art as a self-taught artist, first almost exclusively passionate about drawing and then with growing interest in painting, expressing himself in a highly personal manner that soon brought him to the attention of experts in the field, also earning him numerous prizes and awards. This is how he explains the meaning of his participation in the initiative: 'As soon as I read about the fundraising campaign launched by the newspapers of this publishing group, I realised that I also had to make a contribution. These are works - some of which have already been exhibited and published in art catalogues - all made with the 'sign' that characterises my painting and gives it a recognisability. My works have no specific theme: they are born inspired by the blank canvas and the soundtracks of the films that I keep in the background'.It is no coincidence that art critic Donat Conenna wrote: "Attempting to decipher the works of Silvio Natali, whose compositions have for years posed the great question of who we are, where we come from, means above all asking ourselves where we are going, in what direction, with what values, with what collective memory, how, when, because in the course of our evolution we encounter new enigmatic situations that make us increasingly abstruse, more alien to the world we have set up."A disastrous event such as the flood that hit Tuscany in November 2023 leaves deep and long marks to heal,' observes Agnese Pini, editor of Qn La Nazione, Il Resto del Carlino and Il Giorno: 'Many communities have mourned their dead and then there are the material wounds, suffered by so many families, left with the pain and fatigue of those who, losing everything, have also lost their memories and their past. There is so much to rebuild and recover, and in this race of solidarity, the heart of Tuscany, with the support of the whole of Italy, has once again shown boundless sensitivity and generosity. And so, right from the start, when the emergency was still in full swing, teams of volunteers immediately set to work to shovel mud and bring comfort to those who had lost everything. "And our editorial group, through its print and web publications," adds Agnese Pini, "also wanted to do its part by promoting a subscription through which to collect aid to be destined to projects for the populations affected by the flood".
A subscription that will also include the proceeds from the auction of works donated by the artist Silvio Natali, presented by the historic Pandolfini Auction House in Florence, which has made its online sales platform available and has chosen, in supporting the initiative, not to apply any commission on sales.
