biography

Cristiano Collari is an expert in rare books, manuscripts, and autographs, as well as a passionate collector. Born in Rome, he developed a deep interest in rare books from a young age, which led him to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, where he specialized in paper production and engraving techniques. In 1998, he joined the books and manuscripts department at Christie's in London, embarking on a career that would take him to Rome, Paris, Milan, and Turin, working with other auction houses along the way. Over the past 25 years, he has built a solid knowledge of the market and developed expertise in the evaluation and sale of historically significant works. In recent years, he has also taken on the role of business development manager, organizing a series of highly successful thematic auctions and expanding his expertise into other artistic fields. He has written for specialized publications and regularly participates in conferences, but his greatest passion is mentoring a new generation of scholars and collectors. His career blends research, study, and the valorization of artistic heritage, spanning both academic and antiquarian markets.
